STORYLINE:
Hundreds of Palestinians and Hezbollah supporters marched in a protest in the southern Lebanese city of Sidon on Saturday to express their solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

Protesters held Lebanese, Palestinian and Hezbollah flags and chanted anti-Israel and anti-American slogans.

A Hamas official in Lebanon, Jihad Taha, addressed the crowd, saying that the "choice of resistance" was the only option to get "legitimate rights on the land of Palestine."

Israel on Saturday expanded its ground operation in Gaza, sending in tanks and infantry backed by massive strikes from the air and sea.

Israel’s defense minister said that “the ground shook in Gaza” and that the war against the territory’s Hamas rulers had entered a new stage.
