BEFORE she lost weight, Nakeshia felt like she was settling for ‘bottom of the barrel boys’. The 27-year-old from Gary, Indiana had zero self-confidence and would always avoid mirrors. At her heaviest weight of 240lbs in 2017, Nakeshia suffered a ‘skin crawling’ ankle break that made her reassess her lifestyle and begin her weight loss journey. Nakeshia began building her endurance and found a passion for outdoor running and focused on a diet of moderation rather than restriction. In less than four years, Nakeshia lost 107lbs. She has found her confidence and someone who values her and is in a happy relationship with boyfriend Seth. Nakeshia told Truly: “I am so much more confident about my body now; I feel strong, I feel empowered, I feel beautiful. The confidence level that I have now versus where I was, it's in two different stratospheres.”
