Serra de Estrela

Estradas no maciço central da serra de Estrela.
Situada na região do Centro, designa a cadeia montanhosa onde se encontram as maiores altitudes de Portugal Continental.
Além da neve, da fauna e flora extraordinárias, o viajante também é atraído pela orografia de proporções colossais, com destaque para o Cântaro Magro, bem como pela riqueza humana, cultural, histórica e gastronômica da região.
Nas zonas mais altas da serra situa-se a Estância de Esqui da Serra da Estrela, a única estância de esqui de Portugal.
O seu ponto mais elevado, com 1993 metros de altitude e denominado Torre. As temperaturas mais baixas de Portugal são habitualmente registadas no cume da serra da Estrela, com as mínimas que ocasionalmente podem atingir a marca de -15°C no Inverno.

Sabugueiro
Chamam-lhe a aldeia mais alta de Portugal. Não é certo que o seja (o título é disputado por outras localidades igualmente situadas a cerca de 1100 metros de altitude), mas isso não é motivo para baixar as expectativas. Povoação do concelho de Seia, com origens num aglomerado de cabanas de pastores (e digna de registo oficial desde o século XIII).

Lagoa Comprida
Construída a partir de uma lagoa natural, constitui o principal reservatório de água da serra da Estrela. Tem uma altura de 28 metros. É uma barragem do tipo gravidade. A construção da barragem iniciou-se em 1912.

Covão d´Ametade
A cerca de 1500 metros de altitude, localizado no sopé do Cântaro Magro e no início do Vale Glaciário, o Covão d’Ametade encontra-se dotado de infraestruturas de apoio à visitação respeitadoras da sensibilidade do local.
Lugar onde o Rio Zêzere começa a tomar corpo.

Penhas da Saúde
Chegar às Penhas da Saúde é entrar no coração da Serra da Estrela.
A 1500 metros de altitude, aqui respira-se tranquilidade. Os desportos de neve são o principal atrativo, mas o tempo será igualmente bem utilizado num passeio a pé ou de bicicleta.


Serra de Estrela

Roads in the central massif of the Serra de Estrela.
Located in the Centro region, it designates the mountain range where the highest altitudes in mainland Portugal are found.
In addition to the snow, the extraordinary fauna and flora, the traveler is also attracted by the orography of colossal proportions, with emphasis on Cântaro Magro, as well as the human, cultural, historical and gastronomic richness of the region.
In the highest areas of the mountain is the Serra da Estrela Ski Resort, the only ski resort in Portugal.
Its highest point, at 1993 meters high, is called Tower. The lowest temperatures in Portugal are usually recorded at the top of the Serra da Estrela, with minimum temperatures occasionally reaching -15°C in winter.

Sabugueiro
They call it the highest village in Portugal. It is not certain that it will be (the title is disputed by other locations equally located at around 1100 meters of altitude), but that is no reason to lower expectations. Village in the municipality of Seia, with origins in a cluster of shepherds' huts (and worthy of official registration since the 13th century).

Long Lagoon
Built from a natural lagoon, it constitutes the main water reservoir in Serra da Estrela. It has a height of 28 meters. It is a gravity type dam. Construction of the dam began in 1912.

Covão d'Amedade
At around 1500 meters above sea level, located at the foot of Cântaro Magro and at the beginning of the Glacier Valley, Covão d’Ametade is equipped with infrastructure to support visitors, respectful of the site’s sensitivity.

Penhas da Saúde
Arriving at Penhas da Saúde is entering the heart of Serra da Estrela.
At 1500 meters above sea level, here you can breathe tranquility. Snow sports are the main attraction, but the time will be equally well spent on a walking or cycling tour.
