If you’re a fan of the Shazam! movies, then you know how visually amazing they are. The VFX teams who worked on them are definitely wizards at their craft, and it paid off. There are mind blowing sequences throughout the movies that feature all kind of flying, morphing into different characters, mid-air fights, and realistic looking monsters with smoke hovering around them. But of course, none of that would look realistic if it wasn’t for the brilliant VFX work they did. In this video, we’re taking a look at some great Shazam footage without the VFX, so you can see exactly what it’s like filming a movie like this. Plus it’s really cool to see what the before and after shots look like, so you get a glimpse behind the curtain for what making heavy VFX movies is really like. We take a look at their use of what are known as ‘tuning fork rigs,’ showing actors like Zachary Levi and Mark Strong pretend to fly as they are manipulated on these gyroscope-like devices. We show some of the wire rigging that ultimately got painted out by the VFX team, which not only includes actors, but also an 1800 pound bus that was dangling off of a bridge. And we take a look at some scenes where you can see what was originally there before it was replaced by incredible looking monsters. It’s a fun mix of CGI, practical effects, and more.
