Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There: Persona 5 [Vocal Cover] | Sab Irene

Here's my video game vocal cover of Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There from Persona 5! I'm Sab and I love saxophone and video games, so now I make covers that combine two of my favorite things!

I have been so antsy about releasing this cover! I’ve had a Persona 5 piano book for a while and people always request Persona tunes on my piano streams. I figured it’s time I start covering some!

Wake Up Get Up Get Out There is a track that really pumps me up and I wanted to channel that into the cover. I tried to channel that energy into the video, but also the audio/style. You can even see we have a new instrument being featured on the channel! I bought a clarinet recently and this was a great way to introduce it to the Sab Irene instrument family.

This cover was a bit unique and special for me. This is the first cover I recorded after finishing college, which is a big deal. I’ve been in school the entire time I’ve been making YouTube videos, so this is new territory for me. There’s been a lot of doubt and stress as I try to move forward. There’s a lot of changes in life right now and it was nice to be able to work on such a motivating song. It really kept me going as I was packing up my life and moving and just dealing with a lot of change all at once. This video was recorded at my old place and partially in my new place. The chorus really sticks out to me, reminding myself that there is never a shortage of things to do. I just need to motivate myself. And also not put up with crap haha!

Persona 5 music is so cool in terms of harmony and chords and I’m glad I got to push myself with chord voicings and counterpoint writing. I had fun getting to make variations on the original string parts for winds, but also writing that counterline during the pre chorus. And I had fun getting to switch things up for the last chorus, blending the trumpet counterpart to the whole ensemble and the original string part. I thought about programming strings, but I really wanted to play as many instruments as possible on this. Only the bass and drums are programmed.

I put so much into this video and really enjoyed! I tried to push myself with the mixing and different techniques to get specific sounds and effects. It was so much fun getting to explore further inside my VSTs and plug-ins!
