After a display day in Kansas City the 4014 heads west towards the next nights stop in Salina, Kansas. The chase was challenging as most of the route is two lane roads and the traffic was insane, but entirely worth it. Even though this was my first time in Kansas I did my research and I'm glad I was able to find a few spots to catch the train away from the crowds and really take in the experience.
Once the train made it to Abilene I was confident I had enough time to set up the cameras and fly the drone to get the shots I wanted at this location. Just minutes before a severe thunderstorm and tornado warning was issued though and the rain had just begun as 4014 passed. Me, my cameras, and the drone were entirely soaked in the 90 plus degree heat, but no harm was done and I got the shot. Once I got to Salina I was exhausted from the day and gave 4014 and myself a good rest.
