Raw mix but with mastering - So I'm now officially a cheater right ? My new year resolution was to learn the heel-toe technique, so 4 month later, here is where I am. Still missing strokes, I need to improve the motion and my ability to get a good rebound for the second strokes in order to be less disturbed by a low rebound surface...but I'm still happy with the progress in 4 month. I was working on double strokes but with an other technique, so I was still all new to heel toe. I wanted since the start of 2020 to make a cover of that Gorguts song too, but using the heel toe technique, like the drummer that recorded it, John Longstreth. Sloppy tribute I guess... but it is going to take me probably 6 more month before I make the progress I want, so I've decided to share the current progress with you now. John Longstreth is is one of the drummer that inspired me the most recently, both in terms of technique and musicality, but mainly in terms of musicality. I love this Gorguts album, Colored Sands...I like the riffing of course, but the drumming is super interesting. Pay attention to the cymbals accents work, the rhythm, the way transitions are build up...amazing.
