The Fire This Time Festival kicks off its 10th anniversary season this week with its signature program of eight fully produced 10-minute plays written by up-and-coming playwrights of African and African American descent. Founded by playwright Kelley Nicole Girod in 2009, the festival, presented in collaboration with Frigid New York at the East Village's Kraine Theater, has served as an incubator of sorts for rising and underrepresented playwrights of the African diaspora.
