Here is a video of my Dayton 9K601D 1/2 Ton Electric Chain Hoist that I recently bought after spotting it as For Sale on Craigslist.

The hoist had it's original Essex brand Reversing Contactor in it, but it had failed.. The spade lugs on it had loosened, and were intermittent. Someone had tried to make a repair on it, but soldering on oxidized copper is nearly impossible, so the repairs did not work.

I shopped around and bought a Telemechanique reversing Contactor on eBay. I had to make some mechanical modifications to fit it onto the mounting place,, and then wire it up, but it all went well in the end...

The video shows it raising and lowering the hook for the first time after the replacement of the reversing contactor.

This was the first time I've ever worked on a Chain Hoist.... so it was a learning experience.

This older unit is 1/2 Ton capable. It can be configured to run on 110 VAC, or 220 VAC, It has a 15 foot chain, and an equally long control pendant. It can be affixed to a trolley, but I won't be using that feature in the near future.

I'm really happy that I managed to buy this item, and then make a repair on it. I look forward to using it in my shop.
