In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday night took Karnataka Congress MLA K C Veerendra Pappy into custody from a hotel in Gangtok, Sikkim, as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged money laundering racket linked to online gaming and betting operations.

Sources confirmed that the MLA, who represents the Chitradurga Assembly constituency, was tracked down by a special ED team and detained under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA)
