Universiti Utara Malaysia lecturer Dr Kamarul Zaman Yusoff has failed in his bid to delay the payment of RM400,000 in damages to Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh for defamation.

High Court judicial commissioner Avinder Singh Gill dismissed Kamarul's application for a stay of execution after ruling there were no special circumstances that warranted a postponement.

The decision was made in chambers after hearing submissions from Yeoh's lawyer, Sangeet Kaur Deo, and Kamarul's lawyer, Mohd Khairul Azam Abdul Aziz.

Neither Yeoh, who is also the Segambut member of parliament, nor Kamarul were present in court.
