Описание к видео Advance Wars -- Campaign, Mission 21: The Final Battle! (Grit and Eagle)

Finally, we're ready to explore that politically unaligned and under-colored landmass... gee, I would never have thought to look for some mysterious foe nobody's ever seen or heard of prior to now with a similarly colorless army in the one place that doesn't belong to any of the established countries we've had waging war with one another for little to no reason! Thanks for figuring it out for the rest of us, Sonja!

... ... ...I feel like... this whole encounter went better in her head somehow. Y'know, the wandering around on your own. The talking down immediately to someone you don't know, but know is immensely dangerous based on past actions alone. The unsubtle and unclever wordplay... or lack thereof. I mean, really? This is the danger of trying to be smart in an unsmart world. Which is weird... since this is definitely a strategy game series...

Somehow, I feel slightly targeted by the directness and specifics of Sturm's response, even though Jo isn't even present for this scene that we're magically eavesdropping on. (I-I'm... good... for... ... ...other stuff... *sniff*)

I mean, on the other hand... if a tower of Snifits in an overcoat can successfully engineer a literal world war (in Wars World, no less!) without revealing itself until now, maybe he's allowed to be a little smug about it. He wanted someone to share with! Who might appreciate his efforts! How does it feel to turn out to fit in with the rest of the dummy brigade after all, Sonja?

...Sturm's wordplay is even written to be better than yours, salvaging your nonsense and making it burn something fierce.

(Was there meant to be some kind of offscreen battle going on here? Has Sonja been ripping it up all this time without us, having fantastic battles with actual meaning? "Strategy games" and whatnot don't amount to much if you don't actually "play"...unless she's really just been wandering the countryside during a time of war on her own, totally unescorted. Y'know 'cause warzone. That kind of thing.)

Mission 21: The Final Battle! (Grit and Eagle)

At last! This time it's for real! ...the title of the mission says so! ...the layout of the battlefield and Sturm's pre-deployed forces totally also says so...

It also seems that some friends have finally caught up and got on the right page about all this and are here to help instead of just getting in the way! ...they'll do this by... getting out of the way! It's my command, everyone do what I say, or else!

Narratively speaking, this seems appropriate anyway, because Grit actually caught on first and Eagle FOUGHT AGAINST this mystery army already, so it shouldn't be that difficult to get them both up to speed and in the area, ready for a fight.

That said, the real problem here is... Andy, what have you done?! Your formation is a shambles! You didn't secure any vital resources ... and you're picking a fight with Snifit Darth Vader?! No wonder Sonja told you to run...

Good thing Wars World works on a combination of nonsenseoleum and granularized strategery. It's a unique situation that makes Andy the ideal hero! ... ... ...I think I'm going to be sick...

But yeah, a huge amount of units to start is only the first wave or so of this one... THEN you've got the fact that there's tons of resources, and Sturm starts with more than all our armies put together. This is going to be one annoyingly intractable ball of twine to untangle, and then actual unit production on both sides will make things even messier.

Oh, and it's very important to say "our armies" here... more so than "both sides," in fact... because you're really controlling THREE armies. With less combined might than the enemy under its single banner. Your moves as each faction must happen individually, but with extra consideration for the fact that they're not all the same. And I don't mean that each CO will have different abilities, I mean that everything is just slightly (or exceedingly) annoyingly compartmentalized.

For starters, funds are all separate, so you have to economize unit purchases individually. CO Power meters will only increase accordingly if that particular CO's troops see action. Units take up spaces on the map! ...you might be able to move around each other with no trouble, but you'd better be extra-sure that each subsequent turn's actions won't interfere with another's in the meantime! (This gets extra-problematic once Sturm moves his troops and out militaristic bowl of Lucky Charms gets all mixed up and soggy.) You'd also be VERY certain before capturing a city, since that income only goes to the faction that owns it... and you can't change your mind later, because it's an ally-occupied city, no capturing it!

The real trick here is... Andy didn't come prepared for this one. He needs to copy Grit's homework before class starts AND successfully withstand the teacher's barrage of questions when the multiple-choice invasion wave hits. Then, we can try to narrow down the answers for the final exam! ...wait, what?
