After lunch, an expert panel of NAAHL members gathered to discuss solutions to the nation’s affordable housing shortage. The panel focused on rental, multifamily housing strategies such as new production, preservation of existing stock, removing barriers to development, and reducing the costs of property insurance.

The panelists were Andrew Jakabovics of Enterprise Community Partners, Priya Jayachandran of National Housing Trust, Matt Reilein of National Equity Fund, and Celia Smoot of KeyBank. Emily Badger of The New York Times moderated the discussion.
