Lo! He Comes with Clouds Descending - Organ Hymn Series #5

Lo! He Comes with Clouds Descending is the fifth hymn in our Organ Hymn Series and is the first in our Advent Hymn Series. This wonderful Advent hymn uses the tune HELMSLEY, which is commonly attributed to Thomas Olivers, who probably heard the musically similar Irish concert song "Guardian angels, now protect me" on the street. It was first published in the second edition of Wesley's "Select Hymns with Tunes annexed" of 1765. The text was written by John Cennick in 1752 and then was substantially revised by Charles Wesley in 1758.

This is the fifth hymn in the organ hymn series, where we not only perform some of the best-loved hymns in the world, but we also showcase a variety of hymns from different organs in churches throughout the UK.
