Juko launched the SuperMidi potato harvester in Finland in early 1992 and it was introduced to the UK market in July of the same year by UK importers Reflex Engineering Limited of Pymoor near Ely, Cambridgeshire.
A wider 720mm main digging web gave the harvester the ability to lift potato rows up to 90cm (36 inches) and the addition of hedgehog separation with hydraulic oscillating fingers brought increased capacity compared to the previous model, the Juko Midi.
The Juko SuperMidi is a single-row potato and vegetable harvester designed to be semi-mounted on the 3-point linkage of an 80hp plus tractor. The Juko SuperMidi can also be easily adjusted to harvest carrots, onions and many other root crop vegetables.
A high-quality machine, the SuperMidi combines the benefits of excellent manoeuvrability associated with a tractor-mounted harvester and the high output of a trailed machine in a compact, sturdy design. Many of the Juko SuperMidi's features are shared with its bigger brother, the tractor-trailed Juko Maxi RX.
A wide range of options enables various crops to be handled in different ways; in boxes, in paper or hessian potato bags, or with an elevator, discharging the crop into a trailer running alongside.
The semi-mounted SuperMidi is ideal for smaller fields since only a small headland is required to turn on. A drawbar kit option enables the harvester to be used as a trailed machine and includes a rack to carry a box or a pallet. The kit includes dual harvester wheels for the nearside.
Smooth crop feed-in is ensured by large-diameter discs. An adjustable diabolo roller accurately controls the digging depth of the shares, allowing the lifting unit to float, following the contours of the land. The 3-piece share is easily adjustable in its angle from the offside of the machine. The low-angle main digging web is a generous 720 mm (28 inches) wide, with down-links forming 'pockets' to prevent damaging roll-back. An anti-roll flap and an adjustable agitator are fitted as standard equipment.
Gentle and very effective haulm separation is provided by a reverse running, spring-loaded and rubber-covered roller. Haulms and trash are fed into this by rubber-covered tines. When harvesting green top potatoes, an optional hydraulically driven pre-topper is recommended.
The Juko SuperMidi features a wide and efficient rubber hedgehog separator which is very gentle in operation. Hydraulically driven pendulum fingers gently separate stones and clods from potatoes. The pendulum fingers are adjustable in their speed, height and angle. Picking stations are provided on both sides of the wide sorting table, up to 5 people can be accommodated here should this be necessary. An adjustable sorting table divider allows the picking of trash from potatoes, or potatoes from the trash in poor conditions or in small, very early crops.
Bagging, box filling or elevator models
The Juko SperMidi can handle boxes filled with an optional hydraulic fork attachment for handling 500 kg (0.5 tonnes) boxes, or a bagging
platform with the capacity to hold 500 kg of bagged potatoes. With the bagging platform, an attachment is fitted, allowing two 15 - 25 kg bags to be filled simultaneously. An hydraulically driven elevator to discharge the crop directly into a trailer can also be specified as special equipment.

Juko harvesters for potatoes, sugarbeet and vegetables were sold, in the UK market from 1987 by Reflex Engineering Ltd, Straight Furlong, Pymoor, Ely, Cambridgeshire, England.
