Donkey Kong Country is perhaps most vividly remembered for its starting stage, Jungle Hijinxs. The lush backgrounds, simple level design, and fun of controlling an Animal Buddy do serve as a great first impression, but what makes this stage stand out so much from a gameplay perspective, and what does it do that other first levels could only dream of?
