Estes Ascender 2-Stage Maiden Flight

I had purchased 3 Estes kits in order to build a 2-stage Ascender rocket.

The upper-stage was ignited by my home-made altimeter which also took care of the duel deploy recovery duties.

The 3 kits were waiting for me at my uncles in the States. I had 4 days to build the rocket and got it finished in the nick of time.

On Saturday I flew it as a single engine configuration to make sure no unforeseen surprises would pop up. All went well.

On Sunday I flew the rocket as 2-stage. I think I was never as nervous as on this flight. Many things can go wrong when flying a 2-stage rocket. However, all went very well. Only slight modifications to the rocket are needed for it's next flight.

The next flight will be with more powerful engines and consequently higher altitudes. I'm looking forward to that!
