Hurricane Katia was the last named storm, and the deadliest, most destructive, and the most intense of the 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season. The formation and intensity of this storm are influenced by the record 35°C waters in the GoM (In December!!!), the lack of wind shear, and the incredibly deep pocket of OHC (Ocean Heat Content) in the gulf. It was retired for it's tremendous amount of fatalities, damages, and the precipitation it produced mainly for Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas (most of it was snowfall). It was replaced with Khloe for the 2029 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
