Mesa County Commissioners recently approved a $159,698 contract with Wiseland Construction and Excavation for drainage improvements along 35 8/10 Road.

The project addresses long-standing drainage issues that have contributed to localized flooding in the area, particularly affecting residents in the Morris Subdivision east of 35 8/10 Road.

The drainage improvements are located along 35 8/10 Road, south of the Government Highline Canal and north of the Price Ditch.

The project focuses on redesigning the stormwater system to move water more effectively through the area. Planned improvements include:

Regrading the existing storm drain alignment to improve drainage from the east side of 35 8/10 Road to the Price Ditch

Installing an 18-inch reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) storm drain to replace the existing system

Adding a 12-inch storm drain on the west side of the road that connects to a junction structure

Transitioning stormwater flow into a 30-inch RCP storm drain that discharges into the Price Ditch and ultimately conveys water offsite to the Colorado River

Construction-related impacts may include short-term traffic disruptions near the project area. Local traffic will have access. These impacts are temporary and necessary to complete the work safely.

Mesa County continues to invest in infrastructure projects that reduce flooding risk and improve quality of life for residents by addressing problem areas with targeted, long-term solutions.
