This platter is made from sections of various sized Aspen logs/branches. I used a homemade router jig to cut out an 18” circle out of MDF board, then hot-glued plastic shelf liner to the circle and used black caulk to seal the mold. I cut 3” sections of Aspen logs and branches to get various widths and arranged them in the mold, with a little bit of fast-set resin to glue them down, then filled the mold with green, copper and white resin. I finished the piece with MAX CLR food safe resin which made for a nice, glossy finish, but it was a very slow process as it took about 6 coats to really get a smooth finish.
