Colleen and Donna Wilson, aka The Beaver Valley Sweethearts, came from Beaver Valley in the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania. They began performing together at 10 years old, making appearances at public gatherings and in theaters. They official big break came when they were selected to participate in an on air talent show on WKST in New Castle, Pennsylvania. From this appearance, they got invited to other stations in Pennsylvania, New York, and even South Dakota. They would eventually join WLS in Chicago and appear on the "National Barn Dance".

Each of the sisters were talented enough to do solo numbers, and both were expert yodelers. Aside form singing talent, they also brought their own accompaniment, with Colleen playing guitar and bass, and Donna playing bass and mandolin. Throughout their recording career which spanned from around 1948 to 1955, they would record first for Decca and Coral, then for RCA Victor, then back to Decca again, but somewhere in the middle, they recorded for today's little known label, Tell. This song is called "Rose Of The Mountain'" and is one of four songs ever put out by Tell for the sisters. Originally written by Jack Rollins, Frances Kane, and Hans Lang, the recording took place in May of 1951.

The pair would continue performing for a short while after their recording had ceased, even providing the singing voice in the English language version of the motion picture "Du bist die Rose vom Wörthersee" (You are the rose of Wörthersee).
