The 2025 Renault 4 E-Tech, first teased a few years back by the quirky 4ever Trophy concept, is finally here, blending modern tech with nostalgic design elements. This all-electric crossover, an adventurous version of the revived Renault 5, brings a rugged yet stylish look to the table. It stands out with its raised suspension and additional plastic body protection, giving it a more robust appearance suited for a small sport utility vehicle.
One cool throwback feature is its sliding fabric roof, which takes a cue from its classic predecessor, reminding us of simpler times. While it looks tougher than the Renault 5, the 2025 Renault 4 E-Tech does not stray far from its roots. It has a boxy shape, much like the original Renault 4, with distinct design cues like rounded headlights and taillights shaped like a pill. These nods to its heritage are mixed with modern touches, making it stand out in today’s market. The rear hatch is especially practical, extending down to the rear bumper, just like the old model, making loading and unloading cargo a breeze with only 24 inches from the ground to the opening.
The vehicle rolls on 18-inch wheels, and under its retro-inspired body, it packs serious tech. Like the Renault 5, the 2025 Renault 4 E-Tech uses a multi-link independent suspension on both the front and rear axles. This is rare in its class, especially in the B-segment, making it a smooth and agile ride.
Inside, you will notice the familiar setup carried over from the Renault 5 hatchback. However, since this version is bigger, you get more space—specifically, 14.8 cubic feet of cargo capacity. The wheelbase has also been stretched to 103.1 inches, providing more legroom for those in the back. The dashboard features a 10.1-inch digital driver's display alongside a 10-inch touchscreen, with some physical buttons still present for easy control.
Performance-wise, the Renault 4 E-Tech offers two power options: 121 horsepower or 148 horsepower. The stronger version can accelerate from zero to 62 miles per hour in under eight and a half seconds. Two battery sizes are available, offering a range of either 186 miles or 249 miles, with fast DC charging support.
The 2025 Renault 4 E-Tech is set to make its debut at the Paris Motor Show and will hit European markets next year, bringing together vintage charm and modern practicality.
