2023 Loretta Lynn's SOBMX Area Qualifier - 50cc Shaft - Yamaha PW50

Our Motocross Story: Episode 3 - 2023 Loretta Lynn's SOBMX Area Qualifier.

Our #roadtolorettas has officially started! We made our 1st South East Area Qualifier attempt at #sobmx in South Carolina this past weekend (2/25/2023). It ended up being a very technical race with rain storms making for a very muddy track that developed very deep ruts. It created a major challenge for the little racers on the PW50 but they all stayed in the fight and put on an impressive show.

Only the Top 9 kids qualify for the Regional Race at South East Area Qualifiers. Michael fought hard against 37 of some of the fastest kids on the East Coast. There were racers from 11 different states: North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, New Jersey, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Maine!

Unfortunately, Michael came up short of qualifying, going 18-14 for 15th Overall. This was his first AMA Race, his first race outside his home state of North Carolina, his first full gate (37), and his first Area Qualifier so we're extremely pleased with his performance. We all overcame fears of the unknown and doubts of whether or not we were in over our heads with only a year of experience in motocross because Michael PROVED that he BELONGS where he was. He PROVED that he CAN hang with the best and actually compete on a national level track, something he had never seen before until the race weekend.

The fight isn't over and there's no doubt in our minds anymore that Michael will qualify for the Regional Race. It's just a matter of time. So until then, the training continues on and we'll see y'all at the next race!
