Congress Speaks BJP-language on 'Illegal' Mosque | Jist

The Congress is caught between the devil and the deep blue sea in Himachal Pradesh. This comes after the Rural Development Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Anirudh Singh, gave details in the Assembly on the Sanjauli Masjid controversy in Shimla.

Anirudh Singh, speaking literally in the BJP style, listed the alleged 'illegalities' in the construction of the mosque and the need for corrective action. Later the minister clarified that the matter is not about a mosque or a temple, it's about illegal construction.

The BJP has come out in support of Anirudh Singh's statement made in the Assembly. But will the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh take the 'bulldozer action' being demanded by protesters?

While the Sanjauli Masjid controversy might give CM Sukhwinder Sukhu a temporary breather by diverting attention from the unpaid salaries and pensions of government employees, the Congress party would be weighing the potential fallout of 'bulldozer action' on the upcoming Assembly elections in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir.
