A Moab family was charged with felony child torture after a boy in their care was found to be severely malnourished and subjected to "serious physical and psychological injuries."

The Moab Police Department said the arrests of 39-year-old Jeremiah James Perkins, his wife, 48-year-old Jennifer Perkins, and her son, 28-year-old Jonathan William Jarman, come after a month-long investigation involving its detectives, the Department of Child and Family Services and medical professionals.

According to court documents, the victim had been living with the family since March 2025. The child appeared to be healthy until July, when he began to lose weight to the point of appearing "frail and skeletal."
