"The term freebie means nothing. Only MLAs have a say in the state's budget. Neither the DMK MP of South Chennai have any control or access to how the Tamil Nadu budget is set, nor does the MP of Varanasi have any control or say in how to form the Uttar Pradesh's budget is set. No MLA gets to say how Union Budget is set. MPs can only have a say about the Union government's budget. The Union government is controlling the state's finances.
It is the job of the government to provide welfare. When they give not a freebie when I do it, it's a freebie.", says Tamil Nadu Finance Minister, Palanivel Thiagarajan.
