Setup Steps:
1. Open Terminal and run the installation script: curl -sSL https://install.pi-hole.net | bash
2. Follow installation prompts, configure IP settings, select network interface, choose DNS provider, and complete setup.
3. Save the web interface address and password.
4. Allow requests from Meshnet peers:
4a. Use the Terminal command to enable listening on all interfaces: pihole -a -i all
or
4b. Log in to the PiHole web interface, go to Settings, DNS, and select "Permit all origins."
5. Add Blocking Lists:
5a. Choose a list from sources like www.firebog.net.
5b. Enter the blocklist URL in Adlists on Pi-hole’s web interface and click Add.
5c. Update gravity to activate the lists.
6. Set Up Client Device (Windows 11):
6a. Right-click Start, Network connections.
6b. Select Wi-Fi/ Ethernet, edit the DNS server, and enable IPv4.
6c. Enter Pi-hole’s Meshnet IP as Preferred DNS and NordVPN’s DNS for Alternate.
6d. Open the NordVPN app, go to Meshnet, and copy Pi-hole’s IP.
6e. In Settings: Connection, enable Use Custom DNS and paste the IP.
