Considering that the brain is an organ that uses a good deal of oxygen, there is a recent theory that shows that if a person with a traumatic brain injury is placed in a hyperbaric chamber, the influx of pure oxygen can provide some remedial or restorative impact.

Though it is not unanimously accepted, it is a method that should be considered. Before this method is attempted, the patient should have extensive neuropsychological testing to make sure that it will not harm them.
