rCITI Seminar by Rasyid Indra Pratama - Agent-based Simulation of Container Terminals

This seminar summarises my Master’s Research thesis, in which I investigate the impact of two cooperation mechanisms—utilisation of multi-trailer trucks and backloading operations—on overall container terminal performance. Additionally, I impose a truck prioritisation strategy for managing the increasing workload in the container terminal due to the rising number of multi-trailer and backloaded trucks. To evaluate the impact of these two cooperation mechanisms and the effectiveness of the truck prioritisation strategy, I develop an agent-based simulation model of a container terminal, focusing on a case study of Port Botany, Australia. The model simulates the terminal entire operation area: quayside, yard, and landside operations while considering the interactions and stochastic nature of operations among the actors in the container terminal.
