Using SSTV to Convert Images to Audio and back again after Applying Effects: Reverse, Reverb, Delay.

Описание к видео Using SSTV to Convert Images to Audio and back again after Applying Effects: Reverse, Reverb, Delay.

Learned an amazing technique today utilizing a technology called Slow Scan TV or SSTV. It allows you to convert an image to an audio waveform. That waveform (if recorded) can then be played back to convert the audio back into an image. It was technology used for transmitting pictures from satellites back in the day. I had no idea it existed but saw a video on ‪@adehanft‬ channel where he utilized it to animate a hummingbird (super dope) and i got inspired to mess around with it. I wanted to record the audio to cassette (like he did) because he achieved some cool effects from the discrepancies between the original signal and the cassette tape recording but i was having trouble getting the audio from my cassette back into my iPad through that pesky dongle so decided to just record the cassette audio into a Logic Pro session to be able to play back the files from my ipad. After the first passed through i was inspired to reverse the audio clip, creating an upside-down version of the original with some slight differences in color. Then i was like “lets add some reverb!” And the final pass is some delay added to the audio signal, creating an image with multiple ghost images in it.

The app you can use to do this is called CQ SSTV!
I hope it’s inspiring for you!

You could literally take audio from this video and create your own doppelgänger images! Although the final audio you’re hearing is from my CRT TV so it will create a slightly different image than what you see in this video. And who knows what the YouTube compression will do. Enjoy!
