The Evans EMAD 2 is one of the most popular bass drum heads on the market thanks to its incredible low-end punch and modern sound. In this review, I dive deep into the features that set this drum head apart and share my experience using it in various settings—from studio sessions to live gigs.

I've set up the Evans EMAD2 on my Tama Star walnut bass drum, and I am using an Audix D6 bass drum mic to capture the kick sound. I am not using any dampening inside the kick drum to give you an accurate sense of its sound.

I also discuss this bass drum head's features including its dual-ply construction and customizable damping system, as well as seeing how it compares to other bass drum heads.
