This is a song about life. The overwhelming human experience that starts with the first strain of consciousness. Growing up listening to this song made me realise at a very young age that words/language can transmit our sincere emotions, yet only when these feelings are truly sincere. Mbarek Ayssar, as we’ll come to discover through this channel, was in fact very talented and mastered the craft of translating his existential dread and crisis into amazing songs. These songs could be a continuity of a long history of a philosophical oral tradition. Note that early Greek philosophers wrote little to no notes at all. Most of what we have received from them is nothing more than the notes that their students have been taking. Should we then talk about Amazigh philosophy that is often referred to as “Awal”?
