In this video, I dissect a Canon PowerShot SX610HS digital camera; this is a destructive teardown since the camera had failed and was not going to be used again.

This particular camera is one I have used for many years as my primary 'on the go' photo and video capture device. A large portion of my YouTube travel (including AMTRAK trips), museum walk-throughs, Heathkit and other electronics videos were shot using this specific camera. But when its lens telescoping mechanism failed, I replaced it (for electronics and other indoor home videos) with another SX610HS that I had waiting 'in the wings'. I now use one of four Canon PowerShot SX740HS cameras that I own for my train, travel and museum videos.

More than pretty much any other modern electronic device, I find compact digital cameras to be the most interesting and internally complex devices that I use, and the high level of engineering and manufacturing they require is quite spectacular.
