Have you heard about the 'Vijayanagara Style' of architecture? The Vijayanagara emperors were huge patrons of art and literature. This era is known for its huge cultural wealth. Several books were composed in Sanskrit, Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil during this period. Krishnadevaraya, who was one of the popular kings of Vijayanagara, was also a poet. He wrote a Sanskrit drama, Jambavati Kalyanam and a poem, Amuktamalyada. The name of the poem means 'the one who wears and gives away garlands' and tells a story about the daughter of Periazhwar and Goda Devi. Another popular literary genius from Krishnadevaraya's court is Tenali Ramakrishna. He wrote Panduranga Mahatyam. Many temples and mandapas were built during this period.
