Lockdown Half Guard, Part 1: Lockdown Concepts

The Lockdown is a fantastic half guard position for controlling and sweeping your opponent. It works just fine in the gi, but its real strength is in no gi and MMA. You get more control with looser half guard positions when you're wearing a gi, but once the fabric isn't there you need a tighter lock than traditional half guard systems. Enter the Lockdown.

This video is an advanced basics intro to the Lockdown position: what it is, what each of your legs do, how to control, and how to keep holding onto your Lockdown when your opponent tries to escape. It's long, but there's a ton of good stuff here. If you're new to the Lockdown system, this video should help you understand the advantages the Lockdown has to offer.
