Why Sead Kolasinac misses Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Southampton. Sead Kolasinac was a surprise omission when Arsenal announced their starting XI for the Gunners’ trip to Southampton today.

The Bosnian has been in good form in recent weeks since Arsenal switched to three at the back and was expected to start against the Saints.

Kolasinac was left out of Thursday’s win against Qarabag in the Europa League in an indication that the wing-back was set to start today.

However, after being left out of the squad, Arsenal have confirmed that Kolasinac has a thigh injury.

Arsenal confirmed Kolasinac felt a ‘tightness’ in his thigh and would not be risked against the Saints.

Nacho Monreal is making his first start in the league since October, while Laurent Koscielny starts for the first time this season.
