WELCOME TO METHODIST GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL, YABA, LAGOS

Methodist Girls’ High School was established in January 1879, as a primary school for girls, at the Wesleyan Mission House, Broad Street, Lagos, with an enrolment of 23 girls and a Nigerian,Reverend I. E. Williams,as the first Principal.
The school experienced many problems during its formative years. However, in 1917, the Department of Education accorded recognition to the school to enter her pupils for the standard VI Examination.
The school was the first to organise a Girls’ Guide Association in 1919. The school was famous for its concerts, plays and songs. In 1933, Secondary Grammar School Education was introduced. In 1936, one of the two (2) girls who sat for the Junior Cambridge Examination passed.
