Ever wondered what an old Japanese estate looks like? Wait no longer. Built for the Mori family, the hereditary rulers of the Choshu han, the family was ennobled after the abolition of the han system. The last Lord, after becoming a Duke, relocated the family seat here, in 1896.

The house was started in 1896, but the project put on hold until 1912, due to WWI. Work started again after the war, until its completion in 1916.
