Mamallapuram is the name derived from Mamallan a great wrestler commonly known as Narasimhavarman I who ruled the pallava dynasty
in the mid of 7th century. This pallava's complex had many of the names from its origin like Nirppeyyaru, Malange, Thirukadalmallai,
Seven Pagodas, Mamallapuram & today what we called is Mahabalipuram. Mamallapuram had ruled by many of the pallavas between 3th and 9th century
but in 6th to 8th century it met outstanding contributions of three great king called Mahendravarman I, Narasimhavarman I(Mamallan) &
Narasimhavarman II(Rajasimha). Their outstanding carvings of sculputures and architecture includes Structural Temple, Monolithic rock cut Temples,
Rathas, Caves & Open-air-reliefs in the part of Group of Monuments in UNESCO world heritage site since 1984. Shore Temple, Five Rathas,
Mahishasuramardhini Cave, Olakkannesvara Temple, Descent of Ganges Krishna's Butter Ball & Ganesh Ratha are most famous tourist places in Mahabalipuram.
Mamallapuram is the busy port city during the pallava's reign, after british also installed a light house in 1900. And today it meets thousands of visitors,
so finally Mamallapuram Toruism has been spreading the cultural and spirtual way of carvings by pallava's Art.
