Testing this in winter conditions with snow on the ground in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Canada and also in a fireplace and a wood burning stove.
In a top-down fire larger logs are placed at the bottom of the burn with progressively smaller logs overlapping and kindling is added on the top of the wood pile.
