The first female President of Finland from 2000 to 2012, Halonen is well known for her outspoken support of feminist and LGBTQIA+ movements. An experienced politician who had previously served as Minister of Social Affairs & Health, Justice & Foreign Affairs, Halonen was an extremely popular president with peak approval ratings of 88%. She currently serves as a member of the Council of Women World Leaders. Her talk is entitled "Is Sustainable Development at Risk?".
