My evening with four kids starting at about 5:00 p.m.

This isn't necessarily our typical evening- at least not in the last 2 weeks, where I've been trying to get more on a routine. But, I did try to maintain the routine as much as possible when we got home. I was hoping to get home no later than 7:00 p.m., but it just didn't quite happen.

I've been trying to get in the habit of closer to 5: 30pm/6pm we do dinner, by 6:30 they are doing their bath. By 6:45 They are brushing teeth and going potty / getting jammy's on, etc. By 7:00 p.m., I'm trying to get them in their room picking out story books. Each child gets to pick a story and we read them all.

By 7:30, I'm trying to leave their room and start winding down with baby.

Obviously this evening was different, but I am trying to see how pushing the routine by 30 or so minutes changes things, since it's still so bright and they just seem to not be quite ready at 7:30. This evening was a bit later than that though obviously!

I did find the overall, getting some good physical activity in before shutting down for the day helped a lot.

At the very end, I remember thinking in the moment that I should have just let her keep the makeup brush and slowly slipped it out when she got distracted with nursing, but I just grabbed it without thinking first- And that's the reality of how things go (Sometimes you're tired and don't really think things through and just grab/react.)
