Highlights from my visits to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo on June 21, 2024.

After a year-and-a-half we’re returning for another visit to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. We’ll start in the African Savanna with Rhinos and Giraffes, before moving up to the Wilderness Trek. Here we’ll check out the new Bear Hollow, see Takins playing around in some enriching piles of mulch, watch Leopards dine, and walk over our heads, and spend plenty of time with the zoo’s Amur Tiger cubs. After a brief stop at the Elephant Crossing, it’s on to the Australian Adventures where we’ll see three adorable Marsupials: A Bennett’s Wallaby joey, a Tree Kangaroo, and a sleepy Koala. At the Primate, Cat & Aquatics buildings we’ll enjoy watching one of the zoo’s adventurous Gorilla youngsters, and marvel at some unique aquatic creatures. Our last stop is The Rainforest, where highlights include a swimming Dwarf Crocodile, an active Anteater, and we’ll end out visit watching Small-clawed Otters enjoy a midday snack.
