Jack starts the show with film clips from various politicians vying for Joe Clark’s job as leader of the Progressive Conservatives; clips include Peter Blaikie, Brian Mulroney, David Crombie, John Gamble, Peter Pocklington, Michael Wilson and John Crosbie. In the studio, Jack speaks with Mr. Clark about his leadership candidacy, his supporters, his challengers, his use of the phrase “my way or the doorway”, lack of discipline within the party, parliamentary reform, the “forces of confusion”, immigration, the Liberal government, cruise missiles, the Canadian energy agreement, capital punishment, the economy, Quebec separatism; Jack opens the phone lines. Mr. Clark introduces John MacDougall, MP, Timiskaming (PC).
