SSC GOLF LAB

SSC Golf lab is available to everyone who would like to
improve their physical performance, reduce their injury risk
and improve their strength levels.
Here at the SSC, Golf Lab is designed to measure your maximum strength, power, swing
speed and identify any weak links in the chain that may expose you to injury.

SSC Golf Lab consists of:
• Lower limb strength test
• Total body power test
• Swing speed testing
• Isokinetic strength testing
• Personalized Strength and Conditioning Program by one of our UKSCA
Accredited Strength & Conditioning Coaches

Speakers include

Daniel Withers completed his orthopaedic surgical training in Mersey Deanery (UK) in 2014. He has completed both a Sports Knee Fellowship at Sports Surgery Clinic and a Research Fellowship in the Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Department, Trinity College Dublin. He also held the role of sports doctor to the Trinity College sports teams.

As part of his fellowships, he was been involved in pre-clinical trials in relation to cartilage and meniscus regeneration, as well as research into mechanisms of ACL injuries in rugby. During his fellowship at Sports Surgery Clinic, he gained considerable experience in treating large numbers of patients with all aspects of knee problems (including osteoarthritis, ligament injuries, meniscal injuries, patellofemoral disorders).

At the end of 2017, Daniel was appointed the first Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to work alongside Ray Moran in the Ray Moran knee Clinic at SSC.

David McCrea is Senior Rehabilitation Physiotherapist at Sports Surgery Clinic. Formerly Burnley FC & Wolves and David has a MSc in Sports Injury Rehabilitation.

The SSC Sports and Exercise Medicine Department is a Physician-led service with each of our Consultants having over ten years of formal post-qualification specialist training and listed on the Specialist Register for Sports and Exercise Medicine in Ireland.

All of our physicians have backgrounds in high-level amateur and professional sports and have had appointments with National and International teams.

Consultations with Sports Medicine Physicians may often include Diagnostic Imaging, Physiological or Biomechanical testing to assist in accurately diagnosing injuries and tailoring treatment plans.

3-Dimensional Biomechanical Testing

We are the only clinic in the world offering full AMTI and VICON Nexus 2 and multi-directional biomechanics testing. These allow us to measure joint relationships, forces, peak torques and angular velocities in high-speed cutting, jumping and landing for both diagnostics, performance, and rehabilitation.
Biomechanics-driven Rehabilitation

Usually confined to university departments, we are the only center in the world to use 3D biomechanics in our day to day programs both in research and in our best care pathways.

We are also the innovators behind VU powered by PIVOT which is developing sensor-based rehabilitation pathways.
