U Thant House in Yangon celebrates the life of one of Myanmar's most famous citizens. U Thant was born in a small town in the Irrawaddy Delta and went on to become the world's top diplomat - the Secretary General of the UN.

U Thant was only the 3rd UN Secretary General and the first non-European to hold the post. He was elected unanimously to the post in 1961 and remained Secretary General until 1971. During his term, he dealt with a series of great challenges and left a profound mark on both the UN and the world at large.

I was suffering a little bit from some earlier long walks around Yangon, so on this occasion, I decided to give my feet a rest and take a GRAB to U Thant House for a relaxing tour and no chance to get distracted along the way.

Cheers,
