'Hindi ko siya boyfriend': Why Alice Guo's love life came up at Senate hearing | ABS-CBN News

Aside from her real identity, escape from the country, and alleged links to illegal POGOs, Alice Guo was also grilled on her romantic life Monday (September 9) at the Senate.

Facing a Senate panel investigating her case, the dismissed Bamban mayor was made to explain her ties with another local leader, Mayor Liseldo "Dong" Calugay of Sual, Pangasinan.

Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada repeatedly asked Guo if Calugay is her boyfriend, at one point showing photos of her with flowers supposedly from him. She denied having any romantic involvement with Calugay, saying they are only friends.

Estrada then showed a business permit of a certain Alisel Aqua Farm in Pangasinan, which, on paper, indicated Guo's "sister" Shiela Guo as its owner. The senator pointed out that the venture's name is a portmanteu of "Alice" and "Liseldo," theorizing that Guo and Calugay's ties are beyond friendship.

Calugay had been invited twice to the Senate panel's hearing as a resource person, to establish his actual connection with Guo. He, however, once again skipped Monday's probe, prompting the committee to issue a subpoena against him.
