Nevada, the silver state. Overshadowed by the famous California gold rush, Nevada goes unrecognized to having one of the richest deposits of minerals and precious metals in the world. Nevada produces more than 75% of the gold in the United States. So much in fact, that if Nevada was it’s own country, it would be the 5th largest producer in the world. With thirty-three active metal mines, Nevada produced 4.8 million ounces of gold and 6.2 million ounces of silver in 2019.
One hundred miles East of Reno, NV outside the town of Lovelock, you’ll find the Humboldt Mountain Range. On the lower eastern slope sits the Bonanza King Mine. Originally discovered in 1868, the Bonanza King is the only lode mine in the Humboldt Range. In 1873, a state of the art 15 stamp mill was erected on-site, which processed over seven thousand tons of ore. A value of over twelve million dollars today.
Mining on the Bonanza King ceased in 1910, but not for the lack of gold. The large remaining lode vein consists of sulphide ore, which was not able to be processed by the stamp mills of the era. Advances in mining technology have made extraction, capture and processing of this ore safer, easier and more cost-effective.

The existing Bonanza King Mine sits on twenty and one-quarter acres and consists of a two-compartment shaft descending to a depth of 300 feet, with 7seventy-five feet between levels. The Bonanza King is a patented claim with extended sub-surface guaranteed entitlements. Independent studies and testing from Cornell University and Barrick Gold Corporation “the largest gold producer in the world,” reveal “The Vein has been classified as high grade.”
A wiser man than myself once said, “The best way to own a gold is to own a gold mine.”
