I’m super proud of my new bathroom!

MY BATHROOM RENOVATION JOURNEY

2023 Renovation
When I bought my home in summer 2023, the bathroom was really the only thing that required attention. I wanted to do this work prior to winter to have a comfortable shower.

Back then, I opened up the floor to find any issues and found the water leaking through the shower floor. This also lead to finding termites.

The work I carried out at that time included:

1. Remove and replace the floor.
2. Remove and replace damaged wood.
3. Fix the termite issues.

The total cost to fix the problems was less than $1500 usd.

I then used an epoxy paint for the tiles and replaced the shower faucet which all cost less than $300 usd.

For this renovation, I was looking for a more permanent solution.

THIS RENOVATION 2024

My design parameters were simple:
1. Create an easy to clean and maintain bathroom.
2. Incorporate elements of an onsen.
3. Keep the space neutral and calm.
4. Spend less than $1500 usd.
5. Stretch my own skills to learn new building techniques.

I had a great time with this project and love the outcome.
