This month’s #GYMWATCH, features Wokingham based club, Pinewood Starr. The club has produced over 150 national champions and the famous red and white tracksuit associated with the club, is regularly seen at boxing shows the length and breadth of the country.

The club was first established in 1966 as Clarke and Eton, before, in 1980 becoming Pinewood Starr ABC. A family club, with the aim of supporting the local community through sport. The man guiding the club is Head Coach Les Stevens Snr; known as Mr Pinewood Starr, Mr Stevens, as a boxer both amateur and professional amassed a record of 104 wins from 115 contests. As an amateur, he won the ABA Heavyweight Title in 1971, adding Commonwealth and European Bronze before turning professional. During his time in the paid ranks, he shared the ring with the likes of Jon Conteh, Bunny Johnson and Jimmy Young.
